Busy Schedule? I GET IT
Maybe it’s being in the Real Estate industry, or maybe it’s being a business owner, but you’d be surprised as to what I would give for a few more hours in my day! Nevertheless, we are still all stuck with the same 24 hours, and we’ve got to work with it.
I’ve gotta ask, do you feel it? Because I feel like right now more than ever we are SO SO BUSY! Not a day goes by that I don’t fall into bed feeling like there’s so much more that needs to be done, that needs my attention.
I tell myself it’s just the season of life we are in. Working, school schedules in full force, keeping track of 3 boys, plus a million other things going on. Today I want to share the things I do for when I’m feeling, well, like this!
Waking up earlier: I find when I wake up about 30-45 minutes early the day doesn’t seem as crazy. Maybe because I am up before everyone else or maybe because I can drink my coffee in peace. Who knows!
Being prepared: I always have my to-do list handy and my computer in my bag just in case I have a few minutes to work, or get things done. For instance if I am waiting for my oil to be changed on my car that’s a good opportunity to get work done, answer emails, make appointments etc.
Have a healthy lunch with you: My biggest tip really is to always have a lunch and snack with you! If you are like me and you are barely home during the day between errands, school drop off and pick up and work you probably eat in your car a lot. I find it DOUBLE helpful if I prep it right after dinner, ready to go.
Multi-task when you are able: Moms are the QUEENS of multitasking, but anyone is capable of being more efficient with their time. If you are sitting in traffic, listening to a podcast that informs you of things going on in the world. If you have a phone call to do but you are waiting in the carpool line, make the call. Or maybe you got to school pick up early (story of my life) so check emails in the car before you go in. I find things like this actually help me knock items off my to-do list.
Give yourself a 30 minute break at the end of the day: This may sound counter productive but hear me out: Having 30 minutes at the end of the day to read, watch a show, or even just do a face mask can really mentally prepare you for the next busy day ahead. We can’t be work work work all the time. You have to have a break or you will burn out.
Being busy has been normalized in our culture but there is something you NEED to remember.
You cannot live the life that you want to live and have the impact that you want to have with your family, creativity, and work if you are overwhelmed, overscheduled, and overbusy.
Help yourself as much as you can, implements these little hacks and keep on truckin through this busy season. You’ve got this.
