No place celebrates crisp, cool air like the people in Wisconsin. Once we make it through the dog days of summer, we start getting excited about fall events and activities.

I can't help but crave all of those wonderful things that make this season so enjoyable: sweaters, fires, food, mums... the list goes on and on. That being said, I always try to to soak up the warm and fuzzy feelings this season brings and hope that my boys will someday appreciate Autumn just as much as I do.

I’ve created a bucket list for the folks in the Fox Valley for the next few months. Will I get to all of these, maybe not, BUT I assure you I’m going to give it my best shot!

#1 - Apple Picking!

Picking apples is fun, but snacking on them as you do so is even better! There's nothing quite like picking an apple, fresh off the tree and taking a bite.

#2 - Pumpkin Picking!

You can’t beat a cool fall day exploring the rows of pumpkins with a scarf wrapped around your neck and camera in hand. It's time to make some memories and we recommend you do so at one of these farms, (the adorable animals at many locations are a complete bonus!).

#3 - Taking a Drive!

One of our favorite things to do in fall is to slip on a cozy sweater, fill up the travel mugs with coffee and cocoa, and head out for a family fall road trip on a sunny, mild day to a destination that just oozes the look and feel of fall. With kids, it seems like two hours is the day trip sweet spot. These 4 spots on the east side of Lake Winnebago are even less! Clocking in at about an hour away and you won’t be disappointed!

The Little Farmer, Malone, Wi

Located just north of Fond du Lac in Malone Wisconsin, Little Farmer is nearly 120 acres. This family farm grows 20 acres each of pumpkins and apples. There are a ton of activities including but not even remotely limited to hayrides, caramel apples, crafts, baked goods, play area, and animals!

Columbia Park, Malone, Wi

Located in Pipe, Wisconsin, the 70 foot Columbia Park Tower has a breathtaking view of Lake Winnebago. This park is probably best known for its boating facilities. If you have any little boat lovers in your family it would be a great place to see them!

Meuer Farms, Chilton, Wi

Meuer Farm is also a family-owned working farm with 150 acres. They grow corn, soybeans, and wheat, strawberries, tap maple trees for syrup and have a small herd of beef cattle. The owners, David and Leslie Meuer enjoy working the land and teaching others about farming and preservation of the land. In the fall, they are known for its corn maze that changes every year. They also have a 45-minute hayride.

La Clare Farms, Malone, Wi

LaClare Farms is an award-winning, family-owned goat farm. This family farm started as a hobby and has grown into a passionate business. Check out the milking process from 4:30 to about 6 pm daily from the Viewing Room. They have 375 dairy goats and if you are lucky the kids (baby goats) as well can be viewed from the window as well!

#4 - Cook Dinner Over a Bonfire!

Throw some hotdogs on the fire and enjoy and family dinner together. Don’t forget the marshmallows for the smores! Can you say easy, fun and tasty?

#5 - Visit Titletown in Green Bay!

Along with pumpkins and apples and beautiful trees, Autumn blesses us with football season! GO PACK GO! We love spending an afternoon here at this large public park (which is filled with free outdoor games) and grabbing something to eat at the top of the hill.

#6 - Check Out a Trail!

Whether you walk or bike, this list of local trails is sure to be blissful with the cool air and the colorful leaves.

There is so much beauty in the fall season—and it's all so much sweeter when spent with family. Enjoy!

*We urge you to call ahead before you visit to ensure the locations are open. These are seasonal businesses that often have varying hours due to staff, weather, and product availability.
