There's nothing worse than daydreaming about the perfect summer for months, only to realize in June that you've overbooked your daily schedule, overextended your budget, and completely forgot to plan those fun weekend getaways. Chances are good that this has happened to you and your family more than once (I know it has for us)!

I love a good long weekend, and my favorite memories include time well spent outside, by the water. I’ve learned that picking close destinations works best for my family, and keeps the cost lower (WINNING!).

And here's a newsflash: you'll never, ever go on a vacation if you don't decide WHEN TO GO. Don’t wait. Do it now. (Especially if your vacation plans fall around a summer holiday.) Let me be the first to say that you deserve a reward for all the hard work you've been doing.
